Infosys Interview Experience 2026: DSE Role & Rounds
My Infosys HackWithInfy experience on campus: the 3-hour coding round, how 1.5 solved problems got me the DSE interview, the questions and the result.
This is my Infosys interview experience from HackWithInfy, held on campus at Chitkara University, where I was offered the Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) role: a full-time trainee position, posted anywhere in India. It covers every step in order: what HackWithInfy is, eligibility, the three-hour coding round, how the DSE track is decided, the 20-minute interview on 4 May 2026, the long wait for the result on 31 August 2026, and the tips I'd give anyone sitting the Infosys drive next. Everything here is the version I sat.
What is HackWithInfy?
HackWithInfy is Infosys's coding competition for engineering students in India, and also one of its main ways of hiring freshers for its higher-paying roles. You solve programming problems in a timed round, and your score decides what comes next: the strongest performers are offered a pre-placement interview (PPI) for a specific role, and the very top ones go on to a final round.
Usually it's an online contest anyone eligible can register for. In my year, Infosys ran it on campus instead: the same kind of coding round, but sat in person at Chitkara University, with the interviews for shortlisted students following it.
The role: Infosys Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE)
HackWithInfy feeds a few fresher tracks. Systems Engineer is the standard entry role. Digital Specialist Engineer sits above it, for candidates who score higher in the coding round, and Specialist Programmer above that, for the very top scorers. How many problems you solve decides which one you're interviewed for, and the exact cutoffs change from year to year.
On Superset my offer reads Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee), Full Time, PAN India. PAN India means Infosys decides the location after you join, so be ready to move anywhere in the country. The drive description said this year's recruitment would be on campus, through an in-person evaluation looking for technical and behavioural skills that fit Infosys's AI-driven direction.
Infosys eligibility criteria
Superset checks eligibility for you, criterion by criterion, and shows your own score beside each requirement. For this profile they were:
- Class X: at least 60% (mine: 98.75%).
- Class XII: at least 60% (mine: 75.25%).
- Graduation (UG): at least 60% (mine: 83%).
- Diploma: not applicable.
- No backlogs.
- An eligible course and student category (B.E. CSE was eligible).
- Your college's offer limits: Chitkara allows a set number of offers per category and job level.
Why Superset says 'not eligible' after the offer
Don't panic if, after the result, the job page shows 'You are not Eligible for this Job Profile'. Superset re-runs the check after the offer is counted, and Chitkara's policy allows one offer per category, so you're now at the limit. The marks, backlogs and course criteria all still show as satisfied. It's counting your offers, not taking anything away.
Infosys hiring process: the stages on Superset
At Chitkara, placements run through Superset. The hiring workflow for this profile listed six stages, and each one gets a green tick as you clear it:
- Application
- Resume shortlisting
- Online test
- Technical interview
- HR interview
- Offer
Round 1: the three-hour HackWithInfy coding round
Superset calls it an online test, but ours was HackWithInfy sat in person, on campus. It was three hours long, with three programming problems to solve, ranging from medium to hard. Your code runs against test cases, and every test case you pass counts.
I solved one problem completely and got part of a second one working, about 1.5 problems out of 3. That was enough to be shortlisted for the DSE interview.
Partial solutions count
The biggest lesson from this round: never leave a problem blank. A brute-force solution that passes some test cases scores points, and half a problem was the difference for me. Get something correct running first, then optimise if there's time left. Three hours sounds like a lot, but with hard problems it goes fast.
Round 2: the Infosys interview (4 May 2026)
The interview was on 4 May 2026 and lasted about 20 minutes, much shorter than my hour-long EPAM interview. Superset lists a technical and an HR interview; this is everything I was asked:
- Introduce yourself.
- Basic programming: questions on loops and syntax.
- Check whether a string is a palindrome.
- Reverse a string.
- Questions from my resume.
- About Nepal, where I come from.
Coding questions: palindrome and reverse a string
Both are two-pointer problems. For a palindrome, put one pointer at each end, compare the characters and move inward; if every pair matches, it's a palindrome. It's O(n) time and O(1) extra space. Worth asking the interviewer whether case and spaces count, as in 'A man, a plan, a canal: Panama'.
Reversing a string is the same walk, but you swap the two characters instead of comparing them, until the pointers meet. In Java or Python strings can't be changed in place, so convert to a character array first, or mention the built-in way and then write the loop anyway, since the loop is what they're checking.
Practise it on LeetCode: 125. Valid PalindromeThe result: offered on 31 August 2026
Then nothing, for almost four months. By the time the result came, I had already been placed at EPAM on 9 August.
On 31 August 2026, Sunny Singh, the placement head at Chitkara University, shared the news, and Superset updated the same day: every stage of the workflow ticked, ending in Offer.
Tips to crack the Infosys drive
- Attempt every problem in the coding test. Test cases passed are what count, and partial solutions get you further than you think.
- Practise medium and hard problems against a clock, not just untimed.
- Know the basics cold. My interview was loops, syntax and string questions, and fumbling a palindrome check costs more than a hard problem you couldn't finish.
- Know your resume. If it's written there, you can be asked about it.
- Prepare a short, confident introduction. It opens the interview and sets its tone.
- Be patient with the result. Mine took almost four months, so keep sitting other drives in the meantime: that's how I got to EPAM.
- Check the eligibility criteria early: 60% in Class X, Class XII and graduation, and no backlogs, decide whether you can sit the drive at all.
Frequently asked questions
- What is HackWithInfy?
- HackWithInfy is Infosys's coding competition for engineering students. Your score in the timed coding round decides whether you get a pre-placement interview, and for which role: Systems Engineer, Digital Specialist Engineer or Specialist Programmer. In 2026 it was held on campus at Chitkara University.
- What is the eligibility for the Infosys DSE role?
- For my drive: at least 60% in Class X, Class XII and graduation, no backlogs, and an eligible course (B.E. CSE was eligible). Your college may also limit how many offers you can hold.
- What is the Infosys DSE role?
- Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) is an Infosys fresher role above Systems Engineer, offered to candidates who score higher in the coding round. Mine is a full-time trainee position with a PAN India posting.
- What is the Infosys campus hiring process?
- For my profile, Superset listed application, resume shortlisting, a coding test, a technical interview, an HR interview and the offer. The coding test was a three-hour, in-person round with three programming problems.
- How many questions do you need to solve for the Infosys DSE role?
- In my drive there were three problems in three hours. I solved one fully and part of a second, about 1.5 of 3, and was shortlisted for the DSE interview. Test cases passed count, so partial solutions matter.
- What questions are asked in the Infosys DSE interview?
- Mine lasted about 20 minutes: an introduction, basic questions on loops and syntax, checking whether a string is a palindrome, reversing a string, questions from my resume, and about Nepal, where I come from.
- How long does the Infosys result take after the interview?
- My interview was on 4 May 2026 and the offer came on 31 August 2026, almost four months later.
- Can Nepali students get placed at Infosys through campus placement?
- Yes. I am a Nepali citizen studying at Chitkara University and was offered the Infosys Digital Specialist Engineer role through campus placement in 2026.
Looking back, half a problem and a 20-minute conversation about basics got me an offer. The coding test rewards attempting everything, and the interview rewards fundamentals you can explain without hesitating. If you're preparing for Infosys, practise under a timer, never leave a problem blank, and don't stop applying while you wait for the result.
